…nein, das ist Daniel Depp nicht. Verschmitzt fragte er das Publikum zu Beginn der Veranstaltung, ob es denn wegen seiner literarischen Qualitäten oder wegen seines berühmten Bruders gekommen sei. Ertapptes Lachen aus so mancher Ecke folgte…
Daniel Depp sollte aber schnell durch Charme und Witz die fast 500 Besucher im Kölner Polizeipräsidium in seinen Bann ziehen, unterstützt durch den kongenial lesenden Ingo Naujoks und die wie immer klug und einfühlsam moderierende Antje Deistler. An dieser Stelle einmal ein großes Dankeschön an all die, die mit den Stars der lit.COLOGNE auf der Bühne saßen und zum erneut riesigen Erfolg des Literaturfestivals maßgeblich beitrugen!
Depp, der selbst immer nur kurze Passagen las, spendete Ingo Naujoks mehrfach Szenenapplaus, da dieser den deutschen Text nicht nur las, sondern wirklich brilliant schauspielerte. David Spandau, ehemaliger Hollywood Stuntman und inzwischen cooler, eloquenter und lakonischer Privatdetektiv, ist genau wie Depp Hollywood Insider. Daniel Depp sagt allerdings: „ …there are no insiders in Hollywood. It is so chaotic – there are only outsiders!” Für ihn ist LA eine Stadt der Verlierer, eine Stadt auf billigen Träumen gebaut, die die meisten bei lebendigem Leib auffrisst. Trotzdem hat Hollywood auch ihn und seinen Schreibstil entscheidend geprägt. Raymond Chandlers romantischer Held Philip Marlowe aus „The big sleep“ ist der Pate für seine Figur des David Spandau. Allerdings geht Depp auch mit seinen anderen Figuren fast liebevoll um: Potts, ein Bösewicht wider Willen, nichtsdestoweniger ziemlich brutal, ist auf seine Art eine ehrliche Haut. Ingo Naujoks würde diese Figur sofort spielen wollen, so sehr hat er Potts ins Herz geschlossen, – fast zärtlich wirkt dieser Schurke, wenn Naujoks seine Dialoge las.
Eine Verfilmung seines Buches – wenn auch naheliegend – wird es nicht geben. Depp erläuterte sehr genau, wie die Hollywood Maschinerie arbeitet: es geht nicht mehr um den Inhalt, sondern um den Star, der die Massen ins Kino zieht. Und er möchte seinen Stoff niemandem unterordnen. Lieber schreibt er weiter an neuen David Spandau Krimis.
Toll, dass die englische Ausgabe des Buches ausreichend am Büchertisch vorhanden war. Der Abend endete mit einer sehr langen und geduldigen Schlange vorm sehr geduldig signierenden Daniel Depp, der sich für jeden auch noch einen Moment Zeit lies. Ein spannender und sehr cooler Abend! Klappe.
