Literatur ist Bühne. Das Buch ist die Kulisse, in dem die Leser beim Lesen leben.
Welche Rolle spielt für Sie die Inszenierung Ihrer Bücher vor Publikum?
Ich bemühe mich, mit derselben Selbstverständlichkeit zu lesen mit der ich rede. Man kann natürlich auch dieses Bemühen Inszenierung nennen.
Welche Bedeutung hat die Interaktion mit dem Leser?
Ich spüre beim Lesen, auf welcher Ebene das Publikum mitgeht. Im besten Fall baut sich eine Spannung auf, die ein Geben und Nehmen ist.
Haben Sie den Leser beim Schreiben im Hinterkopf?
Ja, eine Art von idealem Leser.
Was macht für Sie den „idealen Leser“ aus?
Er ist unvoreingenommen, aufmerksam, hat viel Zeit, ist ungestört und will am Ende der Lektüre ein Stückchen weit ein anderer Mensch sein. Warum sonst sollte man ein Buch lesen?
Wie können Bücher in einer multimedialen Welt noch für Furore sorgen?
Indem sie sich als das erweisen, was sie im besten Fall sind: beste Freunde des Individuums.
Wie können Kultur und Kommerz zum Traumpaar werden?
Es gibt keine Traumpaare. Jeder steht für sich. Manchmal finden sich zwei, die passen zusammen, für einen Moment oder für länger. Einer respektiert den anderen. Der Stärkere nimmt Rücksicht auf den Schwächeren. Der Stärkere sieht das nicht immer so.
Welchen Stellenwert wird das gedruckte Buch in 10 Jahren haben?
Ich habe in diesem Zusammenhang keinerlei Weltuntergangsvisionen.
