Heute war nun endlich die zweite Lesung der lit.COLOGNE, die ich besuchen durfte. Sie fand im Hörsaalgebäude der Universät zu Köln statt, und war meiner Meinung nach einer der Höhepunkte der diesjährigen lit.COLOGNE. Kerstin Gier und Kai Meyer stellten ihre neuen Jugendbuchromane vor und sprachen über ihr Leben und ihren Beruf als Autor/in. Auf diese Veranstaltung habe ich mich im Vorfeld schon besonders gefreut, da Kai Meyer und Kerstin Gier zu meinen favorisierten Autoren gehören. Nach einer kurzen Begrüßung durch eine Journalistin, die auch das Gespräch mit Kai Meyer und Kerstin Gier führen sollte, wurden unter lautem Applaus die beiden Autoren begrüßt. Wie sich bei einer kurzen Vorstellung herausstellte, haben die beiden viel gemeinsam. Beide leben im Rheinland, beide sind Ende der 60er Jahre geboren und die aktuellen Trilogien beider Schriftsteller wurde vor kurzem in die USA verkauft, was ja nun wirklich sehr wenige deutsche Jugendbuchautoren schaffen. Respekt!
Auf die erste Frage der Journalistin, ob Schreiben schon immer der Berufswunsch der beiden gewesen sei, antwortete Gier wie aus der Pistole geschossen: „Ja, schon immer, schon als ich noch ein Kind war“, wohingegen Kai Meyer ganz trocken nur meinte: „Neee, ich wollte immer Pflanzendoktor werden“, was für schallendes Gelächter im Publikum sorgte. Schon nach dieser kurzen Zeit, war mir klar, dass diese Veranstaltung sehr, sehr amüsant werden sollte, womit ich Recht behielt. Gier fragte mit gespielter Empörung, ob Meyer tatsächlich ein Kapitel auf der Strecke Köln-Hannover im Zug schreiben könne, dieses Gerücht habe sie nämlich gehört und sei ganz neidisch. Meyer verneinte dies, wünscht sich aber das zu können, denn beide können, laut eigener Angabe, am besten zuhause schreiben. Gier benutzt das Karteikartensystem, wohingegen Meyer auf den Computer umgestiegen ist, nachdem sein Hund seinen wunderbar geordneten Haufen mit Ideen, in Form von Papierschnipseln komplett zerstört hatte. Beide versuchen aber mindestens 2000 Wörter am Tag zu schreiben, was nicht immer gelingt, denn dank Frau Gier haben wir gelernt: „Facebook ist böse!!!“, sie sei dadurch manchmal abgelenkt und könnte stundenlang im Internet rumsurfen, wo sie ihre Fanpage betreut. Kai Meyer hingegen hat da mal wieder ein ganz innovatives Prinzip zur Vermeidung langer Internetsurferei. Er habe ein System auf seinem Computer installiert, welches die Internetverbindung nach einer bestimmten Zeit ausschalte. Nur durch Herunter- und anschließendem wieder Herauffahren könne dieses deaktiviert werden und mal ganz ehrlich wer hat dazu schon Lust. Clever, clever Herr Meyer! Aber es hat sich gelohnt. Wie sonst hätte Kai Meyer es sonst schaffen sollen fünf Trilogien und etliche Einzelbände zu schreiben und erfolgreich damit zu sein. Nach diesem sehr unterhaltsamen Gespräch lasen beide Autoren aus ihren jeweils 3.Bänden der aktuellen Trilogien. Besonders toll war, dass Meyer das Manuskript seines dritten Arkadienbuchs mitgebracht hatte und wir uns noch nicht veröffentlichtes Material anhören durften. Danach konnten wir uns noch einige, witzige Schlagabtausche zwischen Gier und Meyer anhören und Gier gab Meyer einen wichtigen Tipp für die Zukunft: „ Immer schön sagen, dass das Buch auf jeden Fall einen pädagogischen Anspruch hat, denn sonst mein Lieber, bekommste nie’ n Preis“
Vielen Dank, wir haben viel gelernt,viel gelacht und eine gute Zeit mit diesen wunderbaren Autoren verbracht.
Im Anschluss konnte natürlich jeder der mochte sich seine Bücher signieren lassen und hatte die Möglichkeit, diese, wenn noch nicht vorhanden, käuflich zu erwerben.
